Frequently asked questions

General Questions

01.

Can you help me chose a locations or outfits?

Absolutely! We will have a conversation about the style of shoot you are trying to achieve. From there we will narrow down exact locations by deciding between city or nature, indoor or outdoor, and looking at any reference photos and work from my portfolio that you like.

From there we can discuss styling and put together a mood board for outfits, send me pictures of what's in your closet, or whatever method you would deem most helpful.

02.

What if the weather is bad?

I gladly accommodate schedule changes due to weather depending on the style of shoot and what you are looking for. Some hair textures and makeup don't interact well with humidity, and I will gladly accommodate rescheduling. However, weather can drastically impact the overall mood for your shoot. inclement weather can provide a moody or romantic vibe for the photos, where sun can provide harsh lighting and add lots of texture.

03.

What is your favorite weather to shoot in?

My favorite lighting is overcast and cloudy or golden hour right before sunset. Overcast provides great even lighting across the skin during the day. I typically use light diffusers and reflectors when shooting with direct sun.

Some of the best photos I've gotten are when its partial rain, partial sun around sunset where you can achieve the moody background with the clouds and rainbows, while getting that beautiful golden glow from the sun.

04.

What type of photography do you do?

I specialize in portraiture, including senior portraits, families, engagements, maternity, commercial headshots, and more.

My favorite style of photos is fine art, editorial and surrealism. However, my paid client work typically falls under lifestyle, traditional and candid.

Images and Processing

01.

Do you deliver every image you shoot?

No, for a variety of reasons. Each package includes a minimum number of images I will send, although I typically send more than what's advertised. I will eliminate all duplicates, test shots, missed focus shots, shots with less-than-ideal expressions and other images that may dilute the overall product delivery.

02.

How do you deliver photos? How long does it take?

I deliver photos you can download in a private online gallery that you will have full access to. My turnaround time on photos is typically 2-4 weeks, you may request rushed photos in 1-3 days at an additional charge.

03.

Do you edit the photos?

Yes, every photo I deliver is post produced with my unique signature style of post-production. I will make minimal color, lighting, clarity and tone adjustments as well as skin retouching.

04.

Am I allowed to edit the photos?

I do not allow clients to digitally alter the images after they have been sent. The main reason for this is consistency in style and preservation of image quality.

I want future and past clients to be able to recognize the images I take. In order for my photos to stand out, I edit them all in a similar manner. By editing over images that I have edited, it could give the impression to potential clients that what they see is my editing style, leading to disappointed customers when they receive the images I edited for their shoot.

The price for editing is included, I don't want to waste your time or money by delivering images you feel the need to edit. I will happily make any changes on any photos, just reach out to me!

05.

How do you back up our images and ensure that our images won't be lost?

During your session, I will shoot on two cards at the same time. After, I separate the primary and the backup cards, should anything happen to one set. I will download your images to 2 editing software's as well as a copy on an external hard drive.

The processed images will be added to your gallery, with a backup set of the edited images stored in Dropbox.

Payment and cancellation

01.

Do you require a retainer fee?

Yes, I charge a 20% retainer fee on all sessions that will be credited to the total amount for the session. This fee is due upon signing of your service contract. All retainer fees are nonrefundable as I have committed this time to you and turned down other potential clients.

02.

What is your cancellation policy?

All sessions cancelled more than 7 days in advance will be relieved of any payment obligations. All sessions cancelled less than 48 hours before their shoot date and time will forfeit their payment and may attempt to reschedule.

03.

When is payment due?

Payment for all sessions is due in full no later than 48 hours before your session date and time. I do this to avoid any confusion and last-minute cancellations.
